About Me:
I am a New Hampshire native and Syracuse University grad. Currently I am a production assistant at NESN, working on the broadcasts for the teams I grew up cheering for. My job consists of editing and producing graphics, but I still love features and try to put them together whenever I have the opportunity. You can find my earlier reporting pieces right here. |
The story behind the story:
It was really nice to see so many people concerned about the violence happening on the West and South sides of the city, but unfortunately it was just a lot of talk and the people who attended obviously weren't those at the root of the problem. The violence has continued unabated, the next night someone opened fire on a group of people holding a march against violence. There has been a shooting every weekend since Halloween but one. The violence is scary and sad, but for me the worst part is how sad it is making the police, with each shooting the Sargent that deals with the media seems, not frustrated or angry, but genuinely sad. Six people have been shot since Friday (11/26) including a former high school football and basketball star and tragically the fatal shooting of a one and a half year old boy. My coverage of that will be up soon.
